Knights of the Longbox
The southern port of The Kingdom of Ulthar, Shiverling is a city divided primarily along racial lines. The northern half of the city is dominated by elves fleeing the Elven Diaspora who settled along the banks of the Great Sea. The Southern half of the city is run primarily by humans, who run the port and maintain much of the city’s entertainment and less savory economic opportunities.
Population: About 100,000 (30% human, 25% elves, 25% half-elves, 5% halflings, 5% half orcs, 10% other)
Economy: Primarily exotic trade and shipping, the elves maintain a bustling magical economy with evaluating treasure, selling spells and off loading magical items. The human markets control a thriving black market trade along the docks, including drugs, slavery, weapons dealing and more. There’s also a sizable gambling market that lines the city’s coffers.
Government: Ruled by the mercantile class, with most law focused solely on maintaining free trade and keeping the ports open and bustling. With little focus on municipal code or law and order, crime is rampant in Shiverling’s impoverished areas. In Elven districts or among the richest human shahs, armed mercenary forces guard and occasionally clash in the streets.
